Ocean Point Column
Despite the fact that our days are numbered here it continues to be the “endless summer.”
On a very warm walk Monday morning I came upon a most unusual event at the Chapel, a wedding. It was truly a spectacular day for the bride and groom, congratulations to both of them.
Many gathered this past Saturday to remember long time Ocean Pointer Betsy Edgerton who passed away July 5.
In her younger years Betsy attended Maine College of Art and Design and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Betsy was a talented artist, writer and homemaker. She spent many summers with her children and husband at Ocean Point always enjoying the beauty of the area. Betsy will be remembered for her kind and caring nature and her beautiful smile.
Betsy was predeceased by her son, Bill. Our condolences to her son John and wife Stacy, her daughter Louisa and Granddaughters Julia and Liz and her partner John Davis.
Sadly I received news of the death of Ocean Pointer Don Favreau. Don and his wife Dorothy summered for many years at their home on Grimes Avenue.
After serving several years in the priesthood Don received a dispensation and left to pursue his doctorate in psychology and clinician studies from Andover Newton Theological Seminary at Yale.
Don established a private practice for which he guided many clients through difficult times. He was truly devoted to helping others.
Don and Dot enjoyed walking their dogs early morning and I would often meet them along their walk and have the most pleasant conversations. Don not only enjoyed spending time at Ocean Point but also the game of golf. He was an avid golfer and was kind enough to extend an invitation to me to play golf at the Country Club on more than one occasion.
His son Jonathan predeceases Don. Our condolences to his wife Dorothy, his sister Patricia O’Connell, his brother Kenneth and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in Don’s memory may be made to St. John’s Food for the Poor Program, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA. 01604 or Urban Missionaries of Our Lady of Hop, 242 Canterbury Street Worcester, MA. 01603.
As you are packing up to leave please remember the Food Pantry.
Have a great week!
