Ocean Point Column: Water, remembering Pat and more

Tue, 05/02/2023 - 10:30am

Thanks to the BRWD for their efforts in restoring the seasonal water service last week. We so appreciate all of your time and attentiveness in providing us with water so we are able to return to Ocean Point; I must also include our awesome plumber Scott Yereance and his crew as they are always there to make sure we are up and running.

A Celebration of Life in memory of our dear Ocean Point friend Pat Farrin will be held on Saturday, May 13 at the Opera House, 86 Townsend Avenue from 1 to 4 p.m. Music and light refreshments will be provided. Shuttle buses will be available from the Boothbay Harbor schools parking lot. All are welcome to attend.

The OPCT store is currently in full operation on the OPCT website. Featured is the beautiful Donald Demers print of Grimes Cove. Prints are $550, plus shipping. I understand from the All Things Ocean Point Facebook page that so many of you are as in love with with Ocean Point as I am. Some are lucky enough to be there year round but for those of us who can’t it’s a great reminder of Ocean Point especially on cold snowy winter days. Be sure to check it out at https://oceanpointcolonytrust.org.

It’s graduation season for many of our Ocean Point young people. Congratulations to Caroline Driscoll who will attend Boston College in the fall and to Kate Lindley, who will attend Tufts University. Luke Arnpriester will also attend Tufts, Jonathan Yerrall will enter Providence College and his brother Luke will attend the University of Michigan. Lucy Wales will attend Penn State and congratulations to Al Dawson who is also graduating. We hope this next chapter in your lives will be an incredibly happy and successful one.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Anderson who will graduate from the College of the Holy Cross at the end of the month.

The spring letter will be out soon with lots of information regarding membership and summer activities. The letter will be sent electronically so be sure that Barb Klein has your correct information. For those who may be in need of a hard copy there will be some available at the Casino once the season starts.

I’m sad about the Bruins loss especially given their incredible winning season. I am however excited for the Celtics and like many of their fans I will be cheering them on!

    Have a great week!
