Ocean Point Column: Thanks for summer event hosts and planners
We were lucky enough to have missed the wrath of Hurricane Lee last week; although I understand several people unfortunately lost trees. Power was out for a short time but quickly restored and the surf was unbelievably churned up as witnessed by a steady stream of foot traffic and cars along Shore Road. At times we experienced traffic jams!
September weather has been spectacular, really the best of the season. According to the weather map temperatures will gradually creep up from the 60s to the 70s by next week. I won’t complain about all of the rainfall this summer, as our lawn has never looked better!
As previously reported, the docks were pulled in anticipation of the storm, however, thanks to Card Cove the front dock has been put back in place so that those who wish can extend their boating season. There are still several boats on moorings.
Thank you to Peter and Patty-Smith Gardner who hosted a porch party at their home last weekend that was well attended.
As I think about all of the events throughout the season I would like to thank all who chaired, participated and supported all of our events all summer long.
Next year’s events are being planned, if you have an idea for an event please contact Ginna Yerrall or one of the members of the Activities Committee.
Sadly many of us only have a few weeks left, as seasonal water will be turned off Thursday, Oct. 17.
I look forward to seeing Ocean Pointers who will return the holiday weekend to close up. Please remember the Food Pantry, as I know they would welcome any and all contributions as long as the items have not expired.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great week!
