Oak Hill edges Boothbay, 60-47
The Oak Hill Raiders defended their home court successfully Wednesday night, Jan. 22, defeating the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 60-47.
The Seahawks held their own in the first quarter, trailing only by one point, 12-11, heading to the second eight-minute frame. The home team, however, held the Seahawks to only seven points in the second quarter and went into halftime leading 33-19. Boothbay made it a little bit closer after three quarters, trailing by eight, 41-33, but Oak Hill went on to win its fourth game of the season (4-11).
Boothbay, which hosts Oak Hill on Jan. 30, now also has a 4-11 record and is still vying for a tournament prelim game. As of Thursday morning, the Seahawks were in 12th place. The 11th seeded team in Class C South receives a prelim game, according to the Maine Principals Association tournament schedule. Old Orchard Beach is currently in 11th place.
Leading scorer for Boothbay was Tyson French with 23 points. Aidric Canada, Maddox Cusumano and Simeon Bates each scored six points.
Eli Desmond led the Raiders with 23 points, followed by Braden New with 12, Braden Dubuc with nine and Isaac Graham with eight.
The Seahawks’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28 at home against Madison (7-6). After the home game against Oak Hill on Jan. 30, the Seahawks will complete the regular season at home against Lisbon on Monday, Feb. 3. Boothbay defeated Lisbon on the road on Dec. 11, 53-33.
