Dear Editor:

I want to commend the organizers of last week's visit to Boothbay Harbor by the replica ship Nao Santa Maria. Over 150 students from Southport, Edgecomb and Boothbay/Boothbay Harbor, visited the ship to learn about its unique history. I also want to thank the classroom teachers and principals for making a visit to the ship a priority and for providing their learners an important hands-on learning opportunity. Seeing and delving into the history of the ship and the era when it sailed is something the students will long remember.
