I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Raffle: We have a beautiful live arborvitae tree, decorated with oodles of scratch tickets. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or six for $5. Come join our raffle for chances to win all of the scratch tickets as well as the tree!  The drawing for the winner will take place in mid-December.

Our knitting group has asked that we boost our drop-in knitting. They gossip, laugh, talk about odds and ends, and they do some serious and not so serious knitting! Come join their fun. As they say, “We are a social group of nice people who chat and knit a little.” Whether you are an experienced knitter or a beginner, we welcome you to join us on Monday mornings from 10 to noon.

Visually Impaired Persons (VIP) group will meet at 1:15 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 5 at The Community Center, 185 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor.  Anyone with visual challenges is welcome to attend, along with their drivers and caregivers.  At this meeting, group members will share their personal experiences, life hacks, hints, tips, and tricks. For more information, call Mollie Moore at 633-3810 or Joan Stark at 633-2498.  Please note that during the winter, The Community Center closes whenever the schools are closed due to inclement weather.

We have a new game at The Community Center.  It’s called Rummikub.  Well, it’s not a new game, but it’s new to The Community Center.  And it’s going gangbusters!  Week 1: four people are loud, laughing, and clearly enjoying themselves as they relearn the board game Rummikub.  Come join the fun!  I’ll refresh your memory on some of the rules and strategy in a near future column.  Please come on Fridays from 12: 30 to 2 p.m. to play or learn. Everyone is welcome.

Wednesday, Dec. 6: Love to Dance 10:30-11:30 a.m.; Cribbage 12:30-2 p.m.; Dr. Teel’s Group 3-5 p.m.  

Thursday, Dec. 7:  Mexican Train Dominoes 10 a.m.-noon; Cribbage 10 a.m.-noon  

Friday, Dec. 8: Scrabble Noon-2 p.m.; Rummikub Noon-2 p.m.

Puzzles, coffee, tea, goodies, and good camaraderie are always available all week long. Please save us from eating too many goodies ourselves by coming in and sharing our snacks.  And we are always looking for fresh ideas! December arrives this Friday!
