News and notes from the Community Center
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Eat hardy, be thankful for friends and family. And don’t forget dessert – fill up on apple and pumpkin pies!
We have a new game at The Community Center. It’s called Rummikub. Well, it’s not a new game, but it’s new to The Community Center. And it’s going gangbusters! Week 1: four people are loud, laughing, and clearly enjoying themselves as they relearn the board game Rummikub. Come join the fun! Since it’s Thanksgiving week, and people are worrying more about the perfect turkey, dressings, and accoutrements, I’ll refresh your memory on some of the rules and strategy in a near future column. Please come on Fridays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. to play or learn. Everyone is welcome.
Judy Milinowski has begun her Qigong class here. Many people heard about her class and came to the first week. Come join this meditation and movement class each Tuesday morning from 11:30 to 12:30. No need to sign up. Just come to experience popular activity.
Last but certainly not least for this week, The Community Center has begun a new raffle fundraiser. We have a beautiful live arborvitae tree decorated with oodles of $2 scratch tickets. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or six for $5. Come join our raffle to win all of the scratch tickets and the tree! The drawing for the winner will take place in mid-December.
NOTE: The Community Center will be closed for Thanksgiving and the day after so you can digest all your food. Have a wonderful long weekend!
