News and Notes from the Community Center
Guess what? There is something in the sky that we’ve only seen a few days this summer. It’s orange/yellow and adds some desired warm weather for August.
And no more sneak preview. It’s going to happen Aug. 2 here at The Community Center. Dwight and Duane Lewis (our former Southport bridge tenders), who gave a roaringly successful talk at the Historical Society, have agreed to repeat their performance (actual they never repeat…) at The Community Center on Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. You will see flyers posted around town.
More lobsters: Are you ready to enter our next drawing for a Bucket ‘A Lobsters? From now through August, we will be selling raffle tickets here at The Community Center, for a drawing on Sept. 1. Beginning in August, we will also be selling raffle tickets at the Farmers Market at the Boothbay Common on Thursday mornings. $10 for 1 ticket or $20 to purchase 3 tickets to win 10 free lobsters. Buy lots of tickets! Labor Day feasting will be coming before you know it! Yummmm. And here’s the good news; if you are the lucky winner and have left our beautiful region for winter elsewhere, we will ship your lobsters to you.
And finally, on Fridays during the summer, the Food Pantry delivers to us beautiful, very fresh lettuce and veggies by the box full! Please bring a bag and help yourself! To whet your appetite, check out our Facebook page to see the picture of our latest delivery. (www.facebook.com/boothbaycommunitycenter.)
