Dear Editor:

As we all know, the bottle redemption center on Route 27 in Boothbay went out of business nearly four months ago this past March. People have had to drive way out of town to return their bottles and cans.

We citizens in the Boothbay region certainly need a new bottle redemption center real soon.

I know of a nice spot for the center — in the Meadow Mall next to the House of Pizza. I believe a laundry mat used to be in that space. I think it would be an ideal space for the center, so we wouldn’t have to drive to Newcastle, Wiscasset, Bath, etc. to turn in our returnables. Even if Edgecomb had a redemption center, it is not Boothbay or Boothbay Harbor.
