Muster caps firefighters’ convention
Firefighters from around Maine gathered over the weekend to participate in the annual firefighters’ convention held by the Maine State Federation of Firefighters. A firefighters’ muster capped the events which included a boat ride, memorial ceremony, parade, demonstrations and a banquet, according to Federation President Ken Desmond.
“We have had a great weekend,” Desmond said Sunday.
Desmond said the federation uses a three-year cycle in selecting towns to host the event. One requirement is access to a building with a 400-seat capacity to host the banquet and dance.
Twelve companies took part in the muster which consisted of a wet and dry muster, mystery event and water ball.
Dana and Bett Ingham of Kennebunk have attended the convention for the last 23 years. Ingham has been a member of the Kennebunk department for 37 years and retired as its deputy chief.
