Mountain Valley edges Boothbay
In a low-scoring contest, the Mountain Valley Falcons edged the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 37-34, in Rumford Tuesday night.
The Seahawks jumped out to an 11-3 lead after eight minutes but the Falcons tied the game by halftime, 15-15.
After a nearly even third quarter, the Falcons’ top two scorers gave the hosts the win by scoring seven and six points respectively.
Top scorers for the Falcons were Dylan Theriault with 10, Blake Small with eight and Tanner Henry with six.
Boothbay was led by Tyson French with 14, followed by Simeon Bates with 12.
The Seahawks fell to 3-8 on the season while the Class B Falcons improved to 3-9.
Boothbay’s next game is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16 at Monmouth. The Mustangs are seeded No. 2 in Class C South with a 7-4 record. On Tuesday in Salem, Monmouth handed top-seed Mt. Abram (11-1) its first loss, 69-62.
