Monmouth runs past Boothbay

A slow start by the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks gave the Monmouth Mustangs a 19-point halftime lead and the hosts went on to win, 68-51, at Monmouth Academy Thursday night.

Boothbay trailed 15-5 after eight minutes and 32-13 at the break. Monmouth kept its double-digit lead throughout the second half to send the Seahawks home with its sixth loss of the season (4-6).

Top scorers for Boothbay were Ben Pearce with 15, Kaleb Ames with 13, Gryffin Kristan with 11 and Sullivan Rice with nine.

Leading scorers for Monmouth were Manny Calder with 16, Hayden Fletcher with 14, Cam Armstrong with 13 and Hunter Frost with eight.
