Midcoast Humane is inviting residents and businesses to join them at two town hall meetings in Damariscotta and Boothbay Harbor to hear how the community can continue to help them make life better for animals and people in Lincoln County. Trendy Stanchfield, Midcoast Humane Executive Director, will lead the meetings and provide an update about the organization’s 2019 efforts.

The meetings will be held at the Central Lincoln County YMCA (525 Main St., Damariscotta) on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m., and at Boothbay Region YMCA (261 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor) on Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m.

“We are grateful for all that the community has done to help Lincoln County Animal Shelter, now Midcoast Humane,” said Midcoast Humane Executive Director Trendy Stanchfield. “Now, more than ever before, we need the community’s support. We can’t help the animals of Lincoln County without it. Our name has changed, but our commitment to the animals of Lincoln County hasn’t.”

Midcoast Humane provides lifesaving care for all stray and surrendered animals from 40 contracted communities at its Edgecomb and Brunswick campuses, and it continues to welcome stray and surrendered animals at the Edgecomb campus in partnership with local Animal Control Officers.

Last September, Lincoln County Animal Shelter and Coastal Humane Society changed their name to Midcoast Humane, the final step in the integration of the two shelters that began in 2016. The organization has modernized their adoption program to reach more adopters and make the most of their limited resources. Adoptable pets are now available throughout Lincoln County with local business partners, at mobile adoption events, and at the Brunswick Campus.

In addition to attending a town hall meeting, Stanchfield encourages residents to reach out to her with questions. She can be reached at 207-449-1366 or tstanchfield@midcoasthumane.org
