Spring is here and so is the long-anticipated Maine Maple Weekend. Start the weekend off with Merry Barn’s March Community Literacy Event, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.

We’ll read “Maple Syrup from the Sugarhouse” and learn the basics of turning sap to syrup. We’ll dabble in creativity with a spring craft and feast on vanilla ice cream drizzled with syrup from SweetWoods Farm. When you’ve had your fill, mosey on over to SweetWoods Farm, 144 Lynch Road in Newcastle, and see the syrup making process first hand.
