Men’s Night shoppers and scenics

Men’s Night was Dec. 14, and while there were people out shopping, it was a laid-back event by the time night fell. Most businesses held a day-long sale that continued through 8 or 9 p.m.

There were holiday lights outside the shops downtown, and there were the sales! At Janson’s, shoppers enjoyed savings of  25% off  (except for oil gear, rubber boots and a few other items). Owner Betty Jeanne Maddocks wore a skirt adorned with brightly colored bows. Sherman’s Book Store was another popular destination for all things from books, puzzles, toys and hobbies to greeting cards, wrapping paper, journals, candles and more. Most of the discounts were 20 or 25% ; some shops, like Maine & Ivy and Slick’s, offered 50% off everything; and A Silver Lining offered 30% off – and included gold jewelry.

Participating and/or supporting this annual event were Sea Glass Spa, Nathan’s Pharmacy, The Cannery, sweet bay, Maine & Ivy, China By the Sea, Footbridge Brewery, House of Logan, Mung Bean, Janson’s, Sherman’s, A Silver Lining, Village Store & Children’s Shop, Coastal Maine Popcorn, Slick’s, Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Farm 23, Eventide Specialties, Devine Health & Beauty, Boothbay Register, Two Salty Dogs, Tindal & Callahan, J. Edward Knight, Boat House Bistro, Newcastle Realty, Anchor Restaurant, First Federal Savings & Loan, Bath Savings, and First National Bank.

Men’s Night is sponsored by the Boothbay Register and local businesses.
