Memorial Day 2022: Never, ever forget
Dear Editor:
I had hoped I would not have to start this letter on a sad note. Pat Farrin has passed after a hard-fought battle against cancer. Pat was a fixture in our community, a great contributor to many fundraisers, especially the Light It Up project at Sherman Field. If you needed help with anything, Pat was always there to lend a hand. Rest in peace veteran, friend.
Working at Bath Iron Works, I have seen many sailors, men and women, sail down the Kennebec River, heading into a world of uncertainty. So go to Japan, Hawaii, San Diego, Norfolk, Virginia and Mayport, Florida. This is just the Navy. The other branches of military service are in many areas as well. We all take this for granted.
As we prepare for another Memorial Day, please take the time to attend the parade in your area. Support the veterans who returned and now march to honor those who have fallen.
To all of our veterans in our area who have served, including Arthur, Phil, Miles, Ed, Dick, Paul, Linc, Barry, Rusty, Fran, George – to name a few – thank you for your service, then and now for what you do to make the Boothbay region a very special place to live.
Stay safe, stay strong. God bless our heroes past, present and future. May God bless all our veterans around the world.
God Bless America.
