Second-seeded Maine Central Institute defeated seventh-seeded Boothbay Region High School, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Class C North field hockey tournament on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 21.

The young Boothbay squad’s season ends with a 7-8 record. All but four seniors will return next season.

MCI (11-4) will play the winner of the Mt. View/Stearns game in the semifinal round.

“MCI was the most skilled team we’ve played all year,” said Michelle Bouchard in a text message to the newspaper. Bouchard is the mother of BRHS player Sydney Meader.
