Each year the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor awards a one-time scholarship to a graduating high school senior who: have been part of the life of the congregation for at least three to five years; are heading to a college, university, or vocational school; and are willing to come back and talk to the Sunday School and/or Youth Group(s) about their educational experience and future plans.

We are delighted to announce this year’s scholarship recipient is Maren Whitney, daughter of Michael and Jennifer Whitney of Boothbay. Maren will be graduating from Boothbay Region High School on June 11 and will be attending Southern Maine Community College in the fall. She is enrolled in the liberal studies program with a focus on science. She'd like to become a vet tech, and her ultimate goal is to one day become an equine vet.

Maren was baptized at the church shortly after birth and has been a lifelong member. In addition to attending Sunday School throughout her childhood, she has also assisted with Sunday School and been an active member of the Junior and Senior Youth groups.

Congratulations, Maren, and Godspeed!
