Maine legislators tour Darling Marine Center in Walpole

A group of Maine legislators toured the University of Maine Darling Marine Center in Walpole June 5 to learn more about the role of University of Maine’s research, partnerships and education in the overall marine economy.
Among the legislators in attendance were Sen. Chris Johnson, Rep. Ellen Winchenbach and Rep. Mick Devin from Lincoln County.
Marine economy-related research topics included UMaine commercial fisheries, Gulf of Maine buoys monitoring and aquaculture. The legislators and UMaine marine researchers and students were joined by local business owners.
