Local salon plans childhood cancer fundraiser
In 2023 the National Institute of Cancer states that an estimated 9,910 children from birth to 14 years old will be diagnosed with cancer. It continues to be one of the leading causes of deaths in children.
Heads of the Harbor salon, at 52 Union Street in Boothbay Harbor is planning a fundraiser to support “Go Gold for Childhood Cancer” in September. The salon will be donating all proceeds from their currently scheduled clients on Thursday, Sept. 28 and will have a donation jar at the shop the entire week, Monday, Sept. 24 through Friday, Sept. 29. Anyone who donates to the cause will be entered to win one of several raffle prizes which currently include (2) Gift baskets worth over $150 each, free services and more! Feel free to stop by the salon with your donation at any time during regular business hours, whether you have an appointment or not.
All donations will be given to the Maine Children’s Cancer Foundation and the local Special Olympics in honor of Jameson Brooks who lost his battle with childhood cancer less than a year ago. If you would like to donate and are unable to make it to the salon, please feel free to reach out at (207) 315-2025. The raffle winners will be drawn at the end of the business day on Friday, September 25th and winners will be contacted. The salon hopes to make this an annual fundraising event in order to bring as much awareness to childhood cancer as possible.
