Ella Beauregard of Southport and Henry Currier of Boothbay Harbor, members of the Maine Maritime Academy sailing team, competed with their teammates in the 13th annual Port of Los Angeles (California) Harbor Cup at the Los Angeles Yacht Club. The MMA team finished in third place overall, in what, according to the MMA website, is “considered to be the best of the best in collegiate offshore racing.”

The MMA Mariners defeated Navy, Coast Guard and California Maritime, “not once allowing a boat past them all weekend,” March 11-12.

Beauregard, who graduated from Lincoln Academy, is a sophomore at MMA and Currier, who graduated from Carrabassett Valley Academy, is a freshman.
