Local magic
Dear Editor:
There is an old woman who lives in a house much older than she. The house sits on a spit of land jutting into the ocean. But it is not really just a house; it is a home filled with years of many memories and the old woman is faced with the possibility of having to leave it.
On this spit of land jutting into the ocean there is a band of magicians. Not really magicians but real people who roll up their sleeves and paint, weed, rake and fix, and do their magic to do needed repairs. Their mission is to make it possible for the older and low income population to remain safely and securely in their own homes. They are call Rebuilding Together and the spit of land is Boothbay Harbor.
I am the old woman in this story and also a beneficiary of the magic of this group called Rebuilding Together. Therefore, I am privileged and pleased to shine a spotlight on the wonderful volunteer work that they do in our community. Thank you, dear people of Rebuilding Together. You and your work are treasured gifts for us all.
