Local brewery supports Susan Collins
Dear Editor:
As every small business owner in Maine knows, it isn’t easy — from the challenges of climbing utilities and raw product costs, to the short seasonality of our tourism business. Our goal as a small but growing manufacturer in Maine is to stay creative and level out the ups and downs to allow for more consistent available employment and services to those who call Maine home year-around. Staying creative to us means working together to reduce costs, collaborate with other businesses, and ultimately better our community.
Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King both stepped up to stop needless regulation being proposed against small breweries. For centuries brewers have been giving their spent grains from the brewing process to local farmers to help supplement feed and reduce waste. They represented us and helped our industry avoid another costly regulation that would have kept this age old practice from continuing.
Obviously there are many more important and scary issues our government needs to be focusing on, and we believe Sen. Collins sincerely works in the best interest of Mainers and our country to keep the federal government doing what it is suppose to do, protect our country, not limit it.
