Walpole resident and gifted artist Sarah Wilde recently donated two paintings titled “Island in the Light” and “Reid’s Beach” to Miles and St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice.

Wilde is a respected artist and known for her large land and seascapes. Her paintings are shown in the Midcoast from Belfast to Bath. She said she was inspired to contribute her work after talking with her friend Sarah Rodgers, of Damariscotta, who has served as a hospice volunteer since 2009.

As a hospice volunteer, Rodgers has provided much-needed respite and companionship to numerous patients and their families throughout our community. From Rodgers, Wilde learned about Miles and St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice and the services they provide to terminally ill patients.

"I hoped that my work could provide a measure of peace and tranquility to their patients and their families,” Wilde said.

Kathy Bean, R.N., and executive director of Miles and St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice, said: “By donating these paintings, Sarah Wilde also brings serenity and encouragement to the volunteers, nurses, social workers and physicians who care for our patients.”

“We were so touched by Sarah’s generosity and thoughtfulness,” Bean added. “We feel truly honored.”

Each year, Lincoln County Healthcare’s Miles and St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice program provides end-of-life services to over 200 local hospice patients and their families.
