As Boothbay Lights continues to shine on the peninsula with people from near and far coming to one of the greatest lights shows this holiday season, lighting contest winners were revealed on Community Night at Gardens Aglow Dec. 5.

The first place award in the residence category went to Jeff and Cindy Steane, second place to Connie Pinkham and third, Stephanie Dupal.

The business category had a tie for first place between Flagship Inn and Sheepscot Eye Associates; third went to Boothbay Region Greenhouses.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens has announced record attendance for Gardens Aglow this year. So far, 31,710 have attended, up 45 percent from last year’s count this far into the show, 21,726.

“The advance ticket sales for this coming weekend are also very strong,” said CMBG’s Kris Folsom. “In fact, Saturday is already sold out. If the weather holds, we are anticipating meeting or exceeding our goal of more than 90,000 guests for Gardens Aglow this year.”

Folsom said Gardens Aglow has moved into the number one spot on USA Today’s 10Best Botanical Garden Holiday Lights with three days to go until final votes are counted.
