Library to feature regular patrons in series

Joanna Breen, executive director at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, is an administrator, she sets library policies, and she works with the board. This summer, she will help me make a library spotlight patron of the week. This mini series will highlight some of the library’s users so more people can connect with the library and feel it is connecting back with them.

Most of the time when people think of BHML, they think about all their memories of going there as a child, and she is trying to change all that, Breen said. Featuring different library patrons every week will show the community around Boothbay how much the library means to so many people and why so many can’t wait to come back to the library again and again, she said.

This is one of the main purposes of this project; another is focusing on all the regulars and talking with them about how much they enjoy the library. Focusing on their stories will hopefully show others the library is a great place for so many things and, if you are in the area, you should check it out.

Gloria Taliana, a library volunteer for 21 years, has enjoyed talking to others, helping people find books and getting to know others in the community. She has always loved reading and helping others so the library was a natural fit for her. She loves books and feels needed as a volunteer. As this series continues, be on the lookout for more patrons of the library,  hearing their stories and finding out what they love so much about the library.
