‘By Land and by Sea’ at Joy To The Wind Gallery

Joy To the Wind Gallery will present a compelling new exhibit featuring landscapes and seascapes by artists Lynne Seitzer and John M. T. Seitzer during the month of July. The artist reception for “By Land and By Sea” will be held at Joy to The Wind Gallery on Friday, July 7 from 7-9 p.m. All are welcome to join them in the celebration at 34 Atlantic Avenue, Boothbay Harbor.
The exhibit highlights the local color and natural beauty of the region. John’s 30” x 40” oil painting titled “First Light” depicts sparkling dancing sunlight and colorful reflections in the water beneath the hull of a lobster boat and a sailboat moored in the inner harbor. Lynne, focusing on the effect of natural light, captured the wash of sunshine on a meadow, a barn and a farmhouse in her 18” x 24” oil painting called “Under A Summer Sky.” Viewers of the exhibit “By Land and By Sea” will find an abundance of imagery-from meadows to fish houses, rowboats to lobster boats and even a pair of rubber fishing bibs drying on the line.
The two artists continue to stretch themselves creatively. Both have spent their lives, to date, in the pursuit of art, creative exploration and knowledge. John M. T. Seitzer holds a BFA degree in painting and ceramics and a bachelor of science degree in Art Education from the University of Minnesota, Mankato. He also is an expert custom picture framer (45 years) which is reflected in the beautiful frames found on his and Lynne’s art. Lynne Seitzer earned a liberal arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Mankato and a commercial art degree from South Central College. Along with painting she has been an educator, art director, fashion illustrator, and a greeting card designer.
For the last 18 years John and Lynne have owned and operated Joy To The Wind Gallery, Studio and Custom Picture Framing Service. Their bright art-filled gallery is located at 34 Atlantic Avenue, Boothbay Harbor. Together they have dedicated their lives to the joys of living a life woven deeply in the visual arts.
