Lady Seahawks lose to Cougars, Bulldogs and Mustangs




The Boothbay Region High School Lady Seahawk softball team dropped to 0-4 with losses to Dirigo, Madison and Monmouth this week.
Dirigo's Lauren Henderson had four hits and four runs batted in to lead the host Cougars to a 25-0 win over the Lady Seahawks on April 24.
Dirigo (2-0) pounded out 25 hits in the five-inning, mercy rule game, while Boothbay (0-2) managed only two hits off of starter Britney Ellis and reliever Cami Denny.
At Madison on April 26 Samantha Bruce had four hits and Emily McKenney and Aly Lablanc each had three hits and three runs batted in as the host Bulldogs shut out Boothbay, 26-0.
Boothbay managed only one hit off McKenney, Madison's starting pitcher, in the mercy rule, five inning game. McKenney struck out eight Lady Seahawks.
At home against the Monmouth Mustangs on April 30, Boothbay played better and avoided a shutout, but lost, 14-2. Monmouth banged out 18 hits in the win.
Caroline Bonenfat and Bri Hicks each had three hits for Monmouth. Tori Schmid had two of Boothbay's nine hits, including a double.
Lady Seahawk starting pitcher Allison Crocker had six strikeouts over seven innings.
