The Boothbay Lady Seahawks soared to a 15-3 first quarter lead Dec. 21 in defeating Class D Waynflete, 42-22, in Maine girls' high school basketball action. Guard Bella Orr scored eight of her game-high 23 points in the opening quarter. Orr hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter helping her team build an early double-digit lead.
Other Seahawk scorers were Tatum French with nine, Maddie Orchard with four and Sophie White, Abby Orchard and Arabella Hodgdon with two each.
Boothbay improves to 2-3. Waynflete of Portland drops to 1-4. The Lady Seahawks play Class B Spruce Mountain (4-0) of Jay on Dec. 23 in Boothbay Harbor.
