Kudos to Jim Henderson
Dear Editor:
It was an honor and a privilege to serve as one of many volunteers (veteran and otherwise) who helped out with the Sept. 4 disabled veterans cruise and cookout. Those individuals and businesses worthy of special mention were enumerated in Katrina Clark’s print and online articles last week in the Register.
I would like to emphasize especially Mrs. Clark’s praise for two people who, in my mind, stand tall among those mentioned. Our community owes Jim Henderson and his wife, Sylvia Jenkins, a huge debt of gratitude for all of their efforts to make the event a success.
It was Jim’s idea in the first place, and he worked tirelessly for many weeks to line up all the goods and services and people required to make the event happen. On the day of the cruise and cookout, Jim and Sylvia were first in to help set everything up and last out after the clean up was accomplished.
Thank you, Jim and Sylvia — you have demonstrated to us all the true meaning of patriotism and community spirit!
