Keep calm, spring is coming

Without a doubt, everyone is waiting for the snow to melt and for the arctic winds to subside to make way for tender buds, delicate early blossoms and the green spring grass. The Boothbay Region Garden Club Garden Therapy project this month was a call out to the season of rebirth. Residents of the Gregory Wing and Safe Havens were encouraged to get their hands dirty as they manipulated soil, moss, tiny plantings and garden décor to create miniature terrariums to brighten their rooms in anticipation of spring. Each creation was different than every other one and once the planting was complete, residents added water and a lid to their succulent gardens to encourage the rooting process.

In addition to this way of greening their rooms, residents also strung together cutouts of very green shamrocks to hang or loop onto their windows for a St. Patrick's Day celebration. A fun and slightly messy time was had by all.

The Garden Therapy gals are always happy to welcome new recruits to help bring a bit of the outdoors to those who are mainly confined to the indoors.
