Kathryn Verna Swensen Thomson died peacefully on August 29, 2013 after a long, valiant battle with cancer.

 

She was born on June 28, 1953 to Joseph and Verna Swensen. She married Steven Thomson in 1976 and then later divorced. 

 

Kathryn had a bachelor's degree in education and a master’s in remedial reading, but her true passion was caring for her “children” at Rocky Coast Group home in Boothbay.

 

She is survived by her close friend and former husband, Steven; her son, Matthew; brothers Fred and Paul; sisters-in-law, Ann and Sandra; two grandchildren, Chase and Cruz; two nieces, Melissa and Elizabeth; and two nephews, Christian and Brian.

 

The family wishes to thank Kathryn's close friends for their unrelenting emotional and physical support, especially the exceptional efforts and sacrifice of her former husband Steven, Andrea and Marcus Hutchins, Alan and Anne Barker and Cindy Chadwick. We will all miss her charming wit and dry sense of humor which stayed with her right up until her passing.
