Maddie Kaler defeated four-term Southport School Committee Chairman Adam Harkins, 62-35, during the March 4 municipal election. One hundred residents voted in the municipal election, which preceded the annual town meeting. Two other longtime incumbents won their races. Selectman Mary Lou Koskela received 88 votes in her uncontested race. Fire Chief Gerry Gamage received 89 votes in his uncontested bid for another term. All three offices are for three-year terms.

During the town meeting, residents elected other municipal officers from the floor: Gamage and Peter Kidder, board of library trustees; Gail Richter and Rebecca Singer, board of cemetery trustees; and Karen Curtis, Robert Watts and Melissa Simmons, budget committee. All offices are for three-year terms.
