The Maine Art Gallery’s second show of the season, the Juried Members Show, opens Saturday, June 4 with a reception beginning at 4 p.m. Singer/songwriter Jud Caswell will be on hand to provide music until 7 p.m. The wide ranging exhibit continues through June 25, Wednesday - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Juror Sam Cady has chosen 53 artists who will exhibit 98 works of art expressing a range that includes beautiful abstraction, a strong sense of materials, and lovely or striking representations of moods and ideas. The final selections include paintings, sculpture, textiles, printmaking and photography with imagery ranging from typical Maine subject matter to more personal explorations of a theme.
In its focused effort to support member artists, a second (non-juried) members show will be presented in September. The gallery thanks season sponsors: Sherri Dunbar of Tim Dunham Realty, Les Fossel Restoration Resources, and the Maine Arts Commission.
