Juniper Hill School enrollment season begins
Juniper Hill School for Place-Based Education in Alna is one of the first of its kind: a school that connects children to themselves, to each other, and to their communities through studying both natural and human environments. The outdoors serves as our primary classroom and a springboard for a curriculum that synthesizes the best of 20th century progressive education, with a 21st century place-based approach.
Juniper Hill School is a place-based, pre- and elementary school in Alna on Golden Ridge Road, serving four to nine year olds (pre-K-grade 3 or 4) in 2013-2014. Founded by Anne Stires in the fall of 2011, Juniper Hill is adding a grade each subsequent year, culminating in a pre-K-8 school. We are currently accepting enrollment applications (for all programs: our 5 day school program and a 3 day preschool program) and requests for tours are ongoing.
Juniper Hill School will host an Open House at our Unlocking Festival on Thursday, March 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. Utilizing integrated curriculum, immersion in the natural world, and social understanding, Juniper Hill School strives to create happier, healthier, and smarter children, who are becoming masters of their own learning and actively helping to make their community, and the world, a better place.
