BRAF’s current exhibit illustrates “July in Maine” from as many angles as there are artists. This members’ show, representing 106 regional artists, also marks a milestone for our foundation. We are celebrating 60 years of continuous operation as a nonprofit whose mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy, learn from and participate in the visual arts.

In addition to the regular members exhibit, BRAF is sponsoring two solo-shows in the upstairs showrooms. Gallery One is featuring two artists from the Bangor area: Joanne Houlsen, who works in acrylics, has a grouping of “Seaside Homes and Gardens” and watercolorist Diana Young has selections from her “Figures in ‘Life scapes.”

The “Harbor View Room” is occupied by the Villard Studios, well-known for their wood block prints, white line prints, watercolor wood block prints and hand-bound artists’ books. The exhibit, “PORTAL,” serves to present a historic look into a forgotten medium; and gives us a larger view of the history of Mount Pisgah and the early Commonwealth Art Colony of Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Our upstairs-July Show also includes an overflow space for members artwork in the Middle Room, just a right-turn at the top of the stairs.

Located at 1 Townsend Ave., the Art Foundation is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And do join us for our First Friday Open House from 4-7 p.m. on July 7!

Our doors stay open later on many evenings during July and August in order to “make hay while the sun shines ...”
