'The Inspired Garden' author speaks at Garden Club
Author Judy Paolini will be the featured speaker at the April 10 meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club. Paolini and photographer Nance Trueworthy were presented with a challenge from Down East Publications to author a “different” book about gardens, particularly artists and why they do what they do. Thus evolved “The Inspired Garden,” which features 24 “artistic” gardens and how they evolved. Paolini studied art at the Hartford Art School in Connecticut and will give the presentation.
Paolini grew up in Massachusetts with her parents who loved to garden, especially her father who loved hydrangeas and peonies. Her own interest in gardening began more earnestly when she moved to Maine in 1990.
Paolini has a graphic design business and also designs patio furniture. She was impressed with her visit to China to see how her metal furniture was fabricated. She also custom designs furniture in wood. She enjoys the creative part of her business. In addition to her graphic designs and product design business, Paolini loves sewing, pottery, gardening and woodworking.
The Garden Club’s April 10 meeting will be at 1 p.m., at St. Columba’s Church on Emery Lane. Guests are always welcome at Garden Club meetings. For more information, call Membership Co-chairs Gail Nassif, 207-633-6892, or Sandy Abernathy, 207-633-0392.
