Dear Editor:

As a senior citizen taxpayer in Boothbay, I urge the public to attend the school hearings being held in Boothbay Harbor Oct. 25 and in Boothbay Oct. 26.

We are being asked to vote Nov. 7 on a school referendum to the tune of $89 million.

Enrollment has dropped significantly in recent years yet there is a need for a new high school and additional classroom space in the elementary school. Why? How is all this building going to help the students?

The taxpayers deserve answers to many questions before the vote.

“If you build it, they will come.” Not in this case!
