Local resident Heidi Leighton is selling hot dogs from her cart on the Boothbay Common on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. throughout the summer.

Leighton started the cart over the Memorial Day weekend. She sells plain, chili, cheese and sauerkraut hot dogs, soda, water, ice tea, Coca-Cola products, and chips and other snacks.

“The older I get the more I like people and I enjoy meeting them,” Leighton told the Boothbay Register.  She said business has been slow due to the construction in Boothbay, but, “Every day is something different,” and she is enjoying the work.

The 4-foot-by-8-foot cart has an umbrella and a gas grill. Leighton is looking at possibly expanding the hours to include evenings.

She also offers her cart for special events. Locations and events have included or will include Boothbay Railway Village, Lincoln County Rifle Club Ladies’ Day and the Sheepscot River Race. If interested in booking the cart, call 380-7011.
