Hope Haitian Choir comes to the Boothbay region

Mon, 08/13/2018 - 10:00am

“Amazing,” “So inspiring,” “What beautiful children,” “What beautiful voices,” “They sure are energetic!” These are the comments heard after most every concert by Hope Haitian Choir. This non-traditional choir, made up of 15 young people, ranging in age from 10 to 17, are touring the eastern U.S. this summer, sharing their joy in a variety of venues and churches. The Choir began six years ago, with a new group of children coming each summer. Their exceptional voices combined with energized dancing effectively communicate a message of hope. Though many of these young people come from very difficult circumstances in their home country of Haiti, they demonstrate a buoyant spirit which finds its source in their genuine faith.

Under the direction of Barb House of Boothbay, Maine, the choir has sung at Christian conventions in Haiti, on radio and television stations, at the Rotunda in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., at the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, and a variety of both indoor and outside venues.

You are invited to be a part of their special experience as they travel and share in our country, knowing that it will prove to be a blessing to you!

Three concerts are scheduled for this weekend: Saturday, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Boothbay Baptist Church, Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. at the East Boothbay Methodist Church, and at 5 p.m. at Barrett’s Park on Lobster Cove Road in Boothbay Harbor (sponsored by Anchor Church). There is no fee, but an offering will be taken to help with the choir costs as well as fund projects in Haiti. CDs and other items will be sold as well.
