Hope for Alzheimer’s patients
Dear Editor:
Do you have a family member or dear friend who is struggling with cognitive decline, memory loss and the ability to perform everyday tasks? Are you the descendant of a parent/grandparent afflicted by dementia or Alzheimer’s disease and concerned about your own future? Then you need to know about the services offered by the Boothbay Region Health Center - because now there is hope.
Last Monday evening, the Harbor Theater’s seats were filled with people interested in learning about the services offered by the Health Center, with that night’s focus on its cognitive decline program. The evening began with brain healthy hors d’oeuvres, followed by a movie entitled “Memories for Life: Reversing Alzheimer’s,” and concluding with a question and answer session.
Under the direction of the amazing Dr. Allan “Chip” Teel, the Health Center has been conducting a brain health research program for about four years that now includes 60 participants from near and afar. Dr. Teel’s in-person seminars, with Zoom participation available, are based on the Alzheimer’s research of Dr. Dale Bredesen. Additionally, the Health Center offers a one-hour, weekly, coaching session hosted by founder Patty Seybold to share tips.
The ReCODE (Reversal of Cognitive Decline) program is aimed at addressing the root causes of the disease such as inflammation, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, and more. The treatment is based on a holistic approach that aims to slow down or potentially reverse cognitive decline through lifestyle changes, supplements, and brain health assessment. Whether you are currently attending to a loved one or you want to be proactive like myself due to family genetics, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of care provided by Dr. Teel and staff.
In order for them to continue their valuable services to those in need, please consider a donation or a gift in honor of a loved one by sending a check to: Boothbay Region Health Center, 185 Townsend Ave., Suite R, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 or through their website (boothbayhealthcare.org). Thank you for making a difference – one that will positively impact overall health and cognitive function of Boothbay peninsula’s residents and beyond.
