Andy Holmes, owner of Worldwide Cruise Headquarters, has been elected president of the Maine Chapter of the American Society of Travel Agents ( ASTA). Holmes has been owner/operator of Worldwide Cruise Headquarters since 1999.

Holmes founded his first travel agency, Saco Valley Travel, in Fryeburg in 1965, followed by Academy Travel, and in the 1990s, Harbor Travel in Boothbay Harbor.

Maine is a part of the New England Section and is the most active New England states. Many New Hampshire agents are also members of the Maine Chapter because of geography and shared state lines.

The group encompasses some 135 active travel agents and is dedicated to promoting the resources and effectiveness of travel services provided to clients by member agencies. Maine ASTA meets bi-monthly and hosts speakers from various travel providers such as cruise lines, resort destinations, airlines, hotels, and tour operators. Every year in October they host a trade show where over 100 providers exhibit their products.

When he's not on a cruise, booking cruises, or participating in events at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, Holmes resides on Southport with his wife, Louise. Over the past two-plus decades the couple have sailed on over 100 cruises.
