Historical society’s annual cheese and treats sale, plus cookbooks
Don’t miss out! The Boothbay Region Historical Society’s annual Grafton Village aged-cheddar cheese and sweet treats sale is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at the society museum. This delicious hand-cut cheese will be available on that date from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until sold out. The price of the cheese is $13.50 per pound. Cheese can also be pre-ordered until Friday, Oct. 2, by calling the BRHS at 207-633-0820 and will be available for pick up at the society museum on Friday, Oct. 9, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or during the sale on Saturday. Cheese not picked up by Oct. 16 will be offered for sale to museum visitors.
A sweet treats table laden with homemade items baked by BRHS volunteers will include lots of fresh pies, breads, cakes, and other goodies for sale. A basket of goodies and culinary-related items will be raffled that day and gently used cookbooks will be offered for sale.
Also in the raffle corner will be this year’s featured raffle item, a matted print by well-known local marine artist Earle Barlow entitled “A View from the Footbridge: Boothbay Harbor 1910.” Included in the prize package is the book, “Sketches II,” edited by BRHS historian Barbara Rumsey. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5, with the winning ticket drawn at the museum’s Holiday Open House on December 5.
The BRHS museum is located at 72 Oak Street and is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. To learn more about this event or to place your cheese order, please call 207-633-0820 or visit www.boothbayhistorical.org. All proceeds from the sale benefit the society’s programs.
