Historical Society offering Mitchell photo as raffle prize
The Boothbay Region Historical Society is pleased to offer a stunning photograph, “Turbulent Sea at Ocean Point,” by Robert Mitchell as its latest fundraiser. The photograph is handsomely framed in black with an acid-free mat. The framed size is 41” high x 29” wide. As a bonus, the winner will receive a copy of the 20th anniversary edition (2020) of Mitchell’s popular “Around Boothbay Harbor” calendar. The photograph may be seen at the society’s museum at 72 Oak Street, Boothbay Harbor.
Robert Mitchell has lived and photographed in Maine for over 40 years and currently lives on Southport Island. One of Mitchell's most memorable experiences grew out of his work and subsequent friendship with the late, great newscaster Charles Kuralt. Mitchell photographed Kuralt for the cover photo of his last book, “Charles' Kuralt's America” when “Sunday Morning” came to Maine.
The society thanks Robert Mitchell Photography and AE Home/Wilde Design for this donation made in recognition of Boothbay Region Historical Society’s mission to promote interest in the history of the Boothbay region and to preserve that history for future generations to enjoy.
The drawing will take place at the society’s annual holiday open house on Dec. 7, 2019. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at the society’s museum or by sending a check and self-addressed stamped envelope to BRHS, P.O. Box 272, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
