Boothbay Region High School freshman standout cross-country runner Karen Higgins and longtime BRHS coach Nick Scott were voted top finishers in the post-season Mountain Valley Conference awards announced this week.

Higgins was named Runner of the Year in girls cross-country and Scott won Coach of the Year, an award he has won several times. Higgins was also named a first-team all star, as was senior Laura Chapman. Maddie Orchard and Olivia Rittall were named second-team all stars and receiving honorable mention were Maddie Andreason and Sophia Mansfield.

Other MVC all stars

Boys cross-country: First-team all star AJ Crocker; second-team all stars Ethan Clark and Lysander Lefevre; and honorable mention Cleyton Splaine.

Field hockey: Honorable mention Abbie Clark and Magen Burge.

Academic all stars: Neal Baldwin, Abbie Clark, Ivory Cody, Anna Gosselin, Bailey Lewis, Chase Mansfield, Maddie Orchard, Bella Orr and Cleyton Splaine.
