Here’s 3.14159265359 in your face!

March 14 or 3.14 is international Pi day. Edgecomb Eddy sixth graders learned about the mathematical principal which is written as the Greek letter for p, or π. Pi is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to the diameter of that circle. Regardless of the circle's size, this ratio will always equal pi. In decimal form, the value of pi is approximately 3.14 and the digits repeat endlessly. Nicole Ellis’ class celebrated the day eating pie and learning more about Pi’s relevance in mathematics.
There was also a contest to see which student could repeat the most digits of the 3.14159265359-plus order. Ethan Clark won the contest by reciting 332 numbers of pi. Jackson Zehm was second with 227 digits. The top prize was throwing a pie in Ellis’ and Principal Christina Boursaw’s faces. While the two sixth graders are great at math, they’re not good a pie throws. They whiffed and decided to put a pie in their own faces.
