Henry Bonner, in his own words, is somewhat of a curmudgeon, but he enjoys life, and when nudged, has an appropriate (or inappropriate) comment about almost everything. He has survived most of the 20th century.

Over the years Bonner has been a student, a silk merchant, a spy, a husband, a hotelier, a publisher, a packager of hotel projects and more. He has taught about textiles and textile fashion. He has sculpted and painted (with oils, watercolors, acrylics and perforce any paint that happens to be around); he has written an art history syllabus, a history of early Maryland and its cooking, and has written and illustrated several children’s books.

Bonner’s artwork is so very distinct and creative, and is now on display at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library for the month of May. The library’s business hours are Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
