With help from friends
Dear Editor:
Twenty-two years ago, I opened the Yellow Pages (yes! there was actually a book with Yellow Pages where you could find all the local business listings). I called the first number and spoke with Dr. Ron Bouffard, met with Susan Webster LMT and the rest was history.
For twenty-two years I was lucky enough to work with people I like, doing something that I love.
February of this year, as many may remember, we had a deep freeze which caused the pipes in our building at 18 West Street to burst. I was the first to find the issue and knew before I opened the door that I should not be hearing water pouring from outside. My heart sank, and I felt sick. So many local families and friends also had similar experiences, including the local school. Overwhelmed, I called a friend to see if I could practice out of her space while the office was under renovation.
This is my first big shout out to Dr. Nancy Merrill of Merrill Family Chiropractic. I cannot thank her enough for saying yes. I was able to set up and not miss an appointment.
As things progressed it was clear that this was not a quick easy fix, and I would need to make permanent changes. Winter in Boothbay Harbor and Maine almost always serves up a big surprise or two. Reaching out to another friend I was able to keep my practice afloat through another tough Maine winter. Thank you Lorri Higgins LMT for sharing, and the girls at Maci’s Salon for being the strong hard working women that you are.
A new chapter begins as I settle into a new location with people that I like, still doing what I love; you can’t beat that.
Pamela Wiley LMT of Back River Therapeutic Massage can now be found at 921 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
