Help the BCA by purchasing a reusable bag at Hannaford

The Boothbay Civic Association is excited to announce that Hannaford in Boothbay Harbor will donate $1 to the BCA for every “Community” reusable bag purchased for the month of December. Thank you for purchasing this reusable bag the next time you shop at Hannaford.

Established in 1987, a group of citizens formed the BCA, a non-profit corporation, with a goal to enable the acceptance of tax deductible donations for public projects. The first project was to raise funds to purchase Leavitt’s Garage site (where the Boothbay Town Office is today). The BCA has donated over $900,000 to date, including $13,200 for lighting the town office parking lot; $18,000 for curbing, paving and landscaping at the town office; $16,000 for the town office’s cupola and clock; $7,600 for the children’s pavilion at Clifford Park; $16,400 to buy the Memorial Park near the town office; a $35,000 contribution toward buying Shipbuilders Park in East Boothbay; $86,675 for the boat shed and pavilion at Barrett’s Park. One of our new projects is to raise money to paint the Boothbay Town Office. We raised money to build it in 1987, now we need to keep it looking pristine.

BCA’s mission: “To initiate and support projects and programs to improve economic and aesthetic conditions of public facilities, thereby lessening the tax burden of the municipal government.” If interested in donating, please send your check, payable to Boothbay Civic Association, to P. O. Box 81, Boothbay, ME 04537.

The BCA welcomes new members and volunteers. (Membership dues $5 per year). Monthly meetings are usually held at the Boothbay Town Office the first Wednesday of each month May – September (or when called).
