Health Center’s successful first event raises more than $6,000

A highly successful first fundraiser for the Boothbay Region Health Center was held on Friday, April 20 at the Tugboat Inn.
The event sold out and 120 friends looking to cure their spring fever were on hand to support the area’s new seven-day per week walk-in family practice.
Guests enjoyed bountiful hors d’oeuvres and live music by David Clark and Molly Pitcher. Sponsors for the event were Dr. John Andrews, First National Bank, Good ’n You Fuel and Service, Hawke Motors, J. Edward Knight & Company, Jim and Marie Dobens, Knickerbocker Lake Association, Inc., Whispering Winds of Change, Nat Wilson Sailmaker, Crow Point Yoga, Ashlea Tibbetts, Harbor Tech Solutions, Bath Savings Bank, Boothbay Region Lions Club, East Boothbay General Store and Hannaford.
“We are grateful to all the sponsors and donors,” Chairperson Marcia Soler told the Boothbay Register. “And the evening wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of Bonnie Stover and the Tugboat Inn and Restaurant.”
Boothbay Region Health Care’s president of the board of directors Patty Seybold was delighted with the outcome.
“What a wonderful and generous community we have,” she said. The contributions will help fund the practice that opened Jan. 8 and works with the area’s other medical facilities to offer patient care. “We support the Urgent Care Center and we often send patients there for X-rays, imaging and more complex diagnostics,” Seybold explained. “We have a health coordinator, Robyn Ham, who works in both the Urgent Care facility and the Health Center.”
Fourteen sponsors’ generous contributions in cash and in kind donations valued at more than $1,400 raised $1,735 at the silent auction. Donors and their donations included Barbara Rumsey, two historical sketches of Boothbay books; Joy to the Wind, a framed reproduction of “Careful Steps” by Lynne Seitzer; Mary Baudo, four hours of healthy attitude personal training; Diane Daniels, two private Feldenkrais lessons; House of Pizza, two large one-topping pizzas; Eventide, oil and vinegar assortment; Boothbay Region Greenhouse , gift certificate and mug; Jordan Construction, three yards of mulch, delivered; Sally Barter, two bottles of wine; Boothbay Harbor Framers, Connie McIntyre print and gift certificate for framing; Helen Farnham, watercolor of Pumpkin Island lighthouse; Fran Roberts, two home-crocheted afghans; The Hutch, nautical perpetual calendar; Cape Newagen Alpacas, one yard of alpaca composted manure; Crow Point Yoga, an assortment of personal care products; Bob Crink, puzzle made from an original photo; The First, a Lands End blanket and a $100 Visa gift card; Molly Pitcher and David Clarke, two hours of jazz entertainment, Susan Flaherty, framed photo of a lobster boat, "Feeding Frenzy;" Janna Day, "Violet Dory” print by Harry Day; Boothbay Harbor Inn, gift certificate; Tugboat Inn, gift certificate; Fisherman's Wharf, gift certificate.
